VilleRadio Merger Is Finalized…

As of 12/01/2008 VilleRadio has merged with Acoustic Alternative, the #1 Alternative Rock Station in the world. As the month progresses all programming will be switched to that of Acoustic Alternative.

We are still dedicated to promoting local Louisville Artists so keep submitting your music. The only difference now is the style of music and the massive audience we now reach.

Americas Best Country will remain intact with the name changing soon to Acoustic Country. More programming is being added weekly.

Local Station Management will remain the same.

The Brewery Thunderdome - Is it dying a slow death?

The Brewery Thunderdome in Louisville has been through 2 Promotion Companies now with the most recent being Hellawicked Productions. They have struggled since reopening relying on the Heavy Metal Scene in the area to support their efforts at success.

VilleRadio was told by an annonymous source that Hellawed will perform their last show at Thunderdome on December 13, 2008. Rumor has it Level 47 and Ville-A-Fied Entertainment will be taking over pending contract negotiations.

Will anyone ever be able to make Thunderdome successful again? Under the current ownership, probably not. This isn’t personal opinion, it is the opinion of around 50 people we interviewed for this article.

The main thing people complain about is the price of drinks. The owners charge $3.00 for a can of beer making them the most expensive in the city for canned beer. When we asked the owners about beer prices we were told they would not change. They also own Coconuts (right in front of Thunderdome) which is well known for its Latino Nights. The main owner, known to us as “Bert”, remians firm on the fact the Latinos will pay $3 and he makes considerably more money at that price.

Well, let the Rock Scene in Louisville speak Bert! The Latino population is extremely limited in dance venues they can patronize making them easy targets for your high prices. The Highlands has tons of places us Rock Fans can go listen to good music. Rock fans can relax at Pheonix Hill (your neighbor) and drink $2.00 BOTTLES (poured into plastic cups) and listen to 6 different forms of entertainment at reasonable admission fees. We can go to Hideaway Saloon and drink a good selection of Domestic Draft and bottled Microbrews and lsiten to live entertainment EVERY night with NO cover charge. Again, one of your neighbors.

Please don’t get me wrong, I love Thunderdome! It is a AWESOME venue! Maybe if someone bought the place and got reasonable in their pricing it might rock the Highlands again. Someone with a love for music and the regular patrons it brings to the establishment. For now we will have to watch Thunderdome die a slow painful death. Maybe a miracle can happen?

Just food for thought…

We will keep everyone updated as we learn more from the new Promotion Company. We want to wish Tim and Hellawicked Productions the very best and say, “Thanks for the FUN times”.

9:00 PM - CREATURES! (Otisco, IN)

10:00 PM - The Hollywood Kills (Nashville, TN)

 Holloywood Kills

In 2006, just outside Nashville, Tennessee, The Hollywood Kills came together as a unified front against the mundane cookie-cutter “rock” that has smothered recent popular music. Drawing upon creative influences such as The Beatles, Jimmy Eat World, Queen, Incubus, and even the Temptations, the foursome has sufficiently managed to rock the country capital of the world. Friends since high school, Jonathon Jircitano (Lead vocals/guitar), Brent Powelson (Guitar/vocals), and Brandon Jenkins (Drums) mold uniquely beautiful melodies, jagged riffs, and emotionally saturated lyrics into refreshingly catchy indie-rock and wrap it all up with the kind of meticulous musicianship that is so characteristic of Music City.

Their passion for music is fueled by one simple thing, to break the mold and create something completely unique and beautiful, hence the beautifully symbolic name. “Hollywood destroys a persons’ true self leaving this superficial, brainwashed shell. That’s what we’re trying to fight…that’s what our music is all about, promoting the individual and celebrating everyone as their own person.” With a constant tour schedule and energetic, charismatic live shows The Hollywood Kills are quickly spreading the word across the southeast.

Since their formation in 2006 THK has showcased at RedGorilla music festival, recorded with Shawn Harris of The Matches, and earned an opening spot on the Honda Civic Tour opening for Fall Out Boy and The Academy Is…

The band is currently working with Brian Waymire of Dreamscapers International and peddling their musical wares across the nation. There’s no telling what the future has in store, but if this little band from Nashville, Tennessee has anything to say about it there will be nothing but big dreams and even bigger payoffs.

This is fair warning world, The Hollywood Kills are coming.

11:00 PM - Partly Cloudy (Lexington, KY)

Partly Cloudy

Some three decades after The Sex Pistols, The Clash and The Ramones blistered out of nowhere to redefine the rock landscape, the spirit of punk is still alive and thriving thanks to edgy and aggressive, passionately defiant bands like Partly Cloudy.

The Lexington, Kentucky based foursome lead singer Dave Harms, bassist Jon Harms, guitarist Aaron Smith and drummer Chris Brim–has been in a nonstop, restless recording and touring mode, playing some 50 shows a year all around the country since breaking out in late 2004 with Misery Loves Company, the first single off their LIR Records debut State Of Mind. With the help of CMJ (College Music Journal), Partly Cloudy received a ton of regional college airplay; later, Notorious Radio came on board and helped the track get commercial airplay on stations everywhere from St. Louis to Terre Haute, Illinois to South Dakota. Wherever it was spinning, Partly Cloudy hit the road and started playing.

Gearing up to roll out Arm Your Weapons, the bands completely self-funded, DIY five-song EP, Partly Cloudy is hitting the road with a vengeance again. Starting with gigs in New York, Philly, Boston, The Carolinas and Florida, Partly Cloudy is going on an outlining America tour. They’re booking some gigs themselves and getting their fans involved in the process, too, asking their thousands of supporters nationwide to help us book via their popular myspace page, www.myspace.com/partlycloudyrocks. “There’s been a large community that has been following us, and now we’re basically telling people, get ready, we’re coming back,” says Dave.

In keeping with the bands fiercely independent spirit which is, after all, the essence of punk-influenced rock, Partly Cloudy parted ways with their Lexington based record label after some clashing opinions over creative direction. They decided to start from scratch and completely self-fund the tracks that evolved into Arm Your Weapons. Of all the songs they recorded for State of Mind, only Misery Loves Company ultimately struck them as a cut that truly defined their vision as a band. But everythings an evolution, and Dave says that first album was a great learning experience.
