It’s Not A Hobby Anymore!

Author: Station Manager  //  Category: Programming, news

When I started this free Internet Radio Station it was just a hobby to relax and have fun with. I’m still having fun but it isn’t just a hobby anymore. If it weren’t for my wife, best friend Mark and a couple other family members I wouldn’t be able to keep up with everything! I can’t believe all the musicians and local folks that have gotten involved too… This has become an unbelieveable project that has grown at a very rapid pace.

We have loaded tons of new music over the past 2 weeks, so much in fact, I had to increase the file size limits on my sorting and scheduling software. We have probably 1,000 more songs to review and upload right now as I type away.

One of the Station ID’s was produced by Michael Stollaire a recording artist from LA. I got to sit down and talk with Michael while he was in Louisville and he convinced me to go with all Rock Music. He had heard some folks talking in the local area saying they wished there was a good rock station in town. Well guess what? NOW THERE IS!

Then there was the freak contact I accidently made with Vicki Lynne Wisecap who is the President of the Georgia Music Industry Association (GMIA) who’s membership and mentors include some very famous singer/song writers including Travis Tritt. Go figure. I say accidental because she was actually ordering a part from the company I work with full-time and I happened to take the order myself (I’m not even in the parts department!).

Now, check this out! I keep watching my server stats and my visits, hits and page views keep soaring higher and higher. What started as a little hobby catering solely to locals has quickly become a WORLDWIDE venture. 70% of our visitors come from the United States and a good majority of them are still local but take a look at the different places we have listeners in (the order is by most listenership):

Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Seychelles, Italy, Poland, Thailand, South Africa, Australia, Russian Federation, Sweden, Ghana, India, Bulgaria, Estonia & Spain.

The list came right off my webserver stats software. What’s even more amazing is the traffic is all word of mouth! We haven’t even done any advertising yet! I do a couple of blogs but haven’t done any real search engine stuff or anything like that. We should have a listing in iTunes before too long and when that happens we will begin advertising within the major search engines to help drive more traffic to us.

We also made another major decision not to allow advertising in the music programming! Instead we are placing paid sponsor links on our site and companies pay us to send them traffic. Some of the stuff is free like the Cellware link. You can download free stuff for your cell phone and I have actually used the service and it’s really FREE!

This week we will be adding Google Searches to the site and when people click on the links Google will pay us for the traffic. If we can get people coming to the site and using the links and free stuff we will be able to keep the station FREE and Commercial Free. Last month we made a whole $37.50 off of link usage.

Another thing thought of doing is offering sponsorships for each hour of programming. If you own a small business and want some really affordable promotion, contact me and sponsor the station.

I just wanted to let everyone know the status of things on The Ville. We thank each and everyone of you who are listening and those who have subscribed to our feed. Please keep the emails coming with comments and suggestions we thrive on them. I can only make it better if you help by making suggestions!

Ville Radio Announces New Music Director

Author: Station Manager  //  Category: Programming, news

The Ville Radio Network is proud to welcome our new Music Director Mr. Marque Payne of Clarksville, Indiana. Mark is a song writer & musician originally from Owensboro, Kentucky.

Ville Radio specializes in featuring and promoting Garage Bands, Local and Independent Artists that submit original soundtracks to be played on our station. We accept music from all Genre`s which is reviewed by our Music Director for insertion into our programming schedule.

Since joining us this past Monday Mark has already reviewed more than 165 new song submissions that are being prepared to air on the network. He encourages all artists to submitt their music to him via email at gitfiddle (at) villeradio (dot) com. You may submit as many songs as you wish, but they must contain original content. If your soundtracks are selected to air on the network you will be notified via email.

The addition of Mr. Payne will definitely help us achieve our goal of being the most agressive music and radio programming outlet in the Midwest and eventually the world. Our audience already reaches worldwide and our big kick off isn’t even until July 1, 2008! This tells us something is working right and we are definitely filling a void in the Entertainment Industry.
